Learn about California native plants, waterwise landscaping, and how each of us can contribute to watershed health while helping our region build for a sustainable future. The festival will feature:
- FREE ADMISSION to California Botanic Garden on Saturday, May 18th. (Advance ticket reservations recommended: click the dropdown menu to select your preferred arrival time. If a "Sold out" message is displaying, please select a different arrival time.)
- Fun and informative exhibitor booths featuring our friends from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Chino Basin Water Conservation District, LA County Dept. of Public Works, California Native Plant Society, Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum, TreePeople, City of Claremont, Inland Empire Waterkeeper, Council for Watershed Health, San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control, and more!
- Connect with local landscapers: Cedar and Steel Landscapes, Garden Natives, Natural Earth Landscaping, Studio Petrichor, and Architerra Design Group.
- Tours and mini-workshops on waterwise landscaping featuring CalBG experts (see schedule below).
- Family-friendly storytime and craft stations.
- Talks and tours covering watershed health and history, plus native plant restoration efforts.
- Live musical performances curated by Living Earth. Performers include: Mizu, Salenta + Qur’an, Paige Emery, Amigone, and DJs Saapato and Noah the Naturalist.
- Site-specific water art installation by Lachlan Turczan.
- Food for sale: Food trucks (5Elementos & Tropic Truck), coffee, and more.
- CA native plants available for purchase at the Grow Native Nursery.
- Raffle prizes including nursery gift certificates, water conservation supplies, CalBG merch, and much more!

- 2:30 PM Talk: “Thinking Like a Watershed; Or, How to Reimagine Our Place in This Place” (Char Miller, Pomona College) (Station 2)
Drawing on his recent book, Natural Consequences: Intimate Essays for a Planet in Peril, environmental historian Char Miller will use San Antonio Creek’s enduring impact on this region to argue that our survival in a climate-changed world may depend on learning to (re)think like a watershed. - 2:30 PM Gardening Workshop: Top 10 Waterwise Native Plants (Station 7)

IMPORTANT EVENT INFO
- Advance, timed ticket reservations highly recommended. Please plan to arrive during your half-hour scheduled arrival time. Entrance for late arrivals is subject to event capacity. Limited walk-up tickets will be available on the day of the event.
- Parking is free but availability will be highly impacted by the Festival. Please consider taking public transportation or riding your bike to the Festival (convenient bike parking will be available). Parking is available in the main CalBG lot, on North College Ave. (north of Foothill Blvd.), and in lots surrounding the former Claremont School of Theology facility. Please see the parking map below for parking locations and follow all posted signs and parking attendant instructions during the event.
- CalBG asks visitors to leave pets, drones, and other prohibited items at home. Trained service dogs are permitted in the Garden.
