Biodiversity Science

Research is core to California Botanic Garden's mission.

CalBG researchers and graduate students conduct cutting-edge research in the critical fields of plant systematics (evolution and classification) and floristics (detailed plant inventories of areas). These studies are supported by fieldwork and CalBG's herbarium, library, seed and living collections, plant growth facilities, and morphology/anatomy and molecular laboratories.

we never stop learning
