Tickets for this event are sold out. Join us for our next Summer in the Garden event: Nerd Out in the Garden on Saturday, August 31st.
It's a botanical movie night not to be missed! CalBG's nature themed movie experiences (Cinema Botanica) and native plant food offerings (Taste Wild) come together for one special evening. Join us for a outdoor movie screening in the Forest Pavilion with delicious native plant inspired snacks and drinks.
This summer's featured film is Song of the Sea: a fantastical animated tale featuring the magical connections between humans and the natural world. Captivating for all ages, this film follows the adventures of Ben and his little sister Saoirse – the last Seal-child – who embark on a fantastic journey across a fading world of ancient legend and magic in an attempt to return to their home by the sea. The film takes inspiration from the mythological Selkies of Irish folklore, who live as seals in the sea but become humans on land.
Every ticket holder receives popcorn with a native plant flavored topping. Flavor choices include: Parmesan Black Sage, Chocolate Coyote Mint, and Smoky Atriplex BBQ.
Sweet treats and drinks will also be available for purchase. Local vendors include:
Revolutionary Bites Bakery, where every treat tells a story! Each item comes with a brief history card detailing the remarkable person or event it's named after. In addition to her existing treats, baker Gennie Truelock will also be creating a new custom mesquite blondie treat in honor of Garden founder and native plant advocate Susanna Bixby Bryant.
Rosemallow Artisanal, a gourmet confectionary crafting handmade treats using organic, locally sourced ingredients. Chef Lani Clough Fox will be creating her first ever selection of native plant inspired confections, using her flavor wizardry to infuse her mallow truffles with beautiful flavors such as coyote mint and woolly bluecurls.
Doors open at 7 PM for food and activities, movie starts at 8 PM.
Seating provided (folding/plastic chairs) or bring your own comfy camp chairs.
