Have you always been pining for plant knowledge but don't know where to start learning? Are you flabbergasted by floral diversity and want to know more? Cover all your bases in this 4 hour workshop where you'll learn sight identification tips and techniques, how to use a dichotomous key and dissecting microscope, basic floral and plant anatomy, a brief history of plant evolution and plant life cycles, major plant family lineages, pollination syndromes, and ongoing plant conservation efforts. We will also be discussing volunteer opportunities and job pathways in botany and plant conservation.
This is a beginner to intermediate class that includes a mix of classroom time with a moderate walk around the Garden. What you’ll need to bring:
The workshop is open to ages 13 and up. Those aged 13-15 years must be accompanied by an adult. If you have an even younger plant friend who would like to join, please contact registrar@calbg.org first to confirm that the class will be a good fit.
