Saturday, July 5th, 9 AM - 12PM: Onsite at CalBG
and Sunday, July 6th, 9 AM - 2 PM: Offsite field trip to Big Bear Lake
Join us for a two-day workshop all about Eriogonum! There are 119 species of wild buckwheats in California, encompassing an incredible range of diversity in both growth form and habitat. While many wild buckwheats are easy to recognize, identifying them to species can be tricky. Our first day in the classroom will be an overview of Eriogonum in California, covering the different plant communities, important identifying features, and how to use Eriogonum species keys. The following day, we will put our new knowledge to practice with a field trip to Big Bear Lake! This will involve stopping along roadsides and slow-paced walks on easy trails, pausing often to observe the plants.
Please Note: Participants will need to arrange their own transport for the field trip day to Big Bear Lake. The course will not include carpool, transportation, or transit to and from, or during the field trip. Participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver form upon registration of the class.
Space is limited so sign up today!
